View Full Version : Goals for the New Year?
Even though 2004 is still a few days away, I'm curious to know what everyone's herp-related goals are for the new year. What will your primary focus be? Is there something specific you want to achieve with your critters over the course of the year?
My plans are to finish my 2 websites and really focus more on my "dinking around" projects that tend to get back-burnered in light of my primary breeding projects. I also plan to completely redo my private snakeroom to coincide moving into our new place. Additionally, I'd like to find and document viable populations of timber rattlesnakes in the state of New Hampshire...they're around here somewhere!!! Fingers crossed!!!

Great Question...I would like to focus more on my herp room. Rather than having many different cage styles, focus on one type. I think it would look really neat. Also, I would like to invest in better equipement (e.g., Ranco thermostat).
Purchase an albino or striped retic....
FINALLY spend a crap load of money at the Daytona Show :D

Shouldn't that read:
"SAVE a crapload of money to spend at the Daytona show"?
I seriously doubt you'll have a problem achieving the "spending it" goal! ;) ;) ;)

my main goals are of course not herp related, they have to do with family and personal stuff BUT herpwise they would be...
1.) cut back on leopard geckos, focus on the best of the best
2.) expand on my Nephrurus projects
3.) expand on my Rhacodactylus projects
4.) learn more about the scientific and biological aspects of herpetology
5.) complete (with co author) herp related book with major publishing company
My herp-related goals for the coming year include, but are not limited to:
1. Get my 100% het albino ball pythons up to breeding size.
2. Breed them and make some much-needed cash from the babies.
3. Buy 1.1 100% het anerythristic brazilian rainbow boas (Anyone have any they might want to sell next year or know where I can find someone who does?)
4. Finish carpeting the reptile shed and making it nicer to look at on the inside, maybe put up some cabinets and a couch, TV, and/or microwave (not for thawing frozen rodents. lol). As well as get a bunch of stuff for the care of my reptiles. I will make a list of things I need later.

finish my gecko room and finish my snake room... animal plastics here i come LOL
hopefully be able to do part time animals :part time work, real job (that would be nice but a goal)
and finally to save enough money up for daytona and go for two years in a row ... last year was great.
maybe get some different rhacs.. i have aurics and cilliatus right now and possibly some of the kick ass austrailian geckos.
i would like snake wise to get either peruvians or corn island boas this year or possibly some rotan fire bellies
For me, my goals are to produce:
1. Striped Patternless Rocks
2. Patternless Rocks
3. Albino Retics
and start a few other little projects here and there: Ceylonese, albino balls, and start to build some nice cages. Also start my Company Wasatch Reptiles to help pay for my hobby :)
And for school: I just hope to pass chemistry and math ;)

we're moving to Az this year. I will be producing albino retics. Have all the same cages(I'm almost there now). start a ball python morph breeding project. Maintain a colony of breeding gilas. and of course make a butt load of money and breed reptiles full time.;) [:O] :D

I'm planning to get my group of kayuadi retics up to good weight, and really feed the snot out of my 02' female het tiger and my 02' female albino in hopes for one or both of them to breed in 05'.
I would like desperately to get my large female bali up to a decent weight (wasn't fed well before arriving here) and my small female up to breeding size and weight. I would allso like for my male tiger to carry on the way he is with no hickups.
My main goal for the new year is to get my calico here. He should be arriving some time in January, otherwise it will be June before he arrives as i have a little "holiday" to take with work for a few months. We are already behind schedule so my fingers, my toes and other bits are crossed hoping for "that phonecall".
Produce our first albino and pied bald pythons
My New Years Resolution is.... Don't slop hogs in the middle of Main Street. I think I can keep this one:p

1) to add a couple more super females, one female albino retic, and another het.
2) to redo my room with one kind of caging and also move to a bigger facility.
3) to start breeding my own food instead of paying more for a food bill than my home. This way I can have more $$ for snakes!!!
4) to not sell snakes when I am hurting for $$. That is my biggest downfall in trying to establish a snake business.

Once I get back to work I have quite a few animals I'm supposed to be purchasing. Other than those, I guess adding some more geckos is about it.

I would say our first goals for the year are to finish 2 things and start one thing.
FINISH:
My Retic collection. Right now I currently have:
1.0 Albino Retic Wilbanks stock
0.1 Het Tiger Wilbanks stock
0.1 Het Retic Wilbanks stock
0.1 Super Tiger Wilbanks stock
0.1 Tiger Wilbanks stock
0.1 Sumatran Retic unknown stock
To finish my Retic project I am going to purchase:
1.0 Genetic Stripe Retic Wilbanks stock
0.1 Lavender Albino Wilbanks stock
0.1 Purple Albino Wilbanks stock
I think this will give me just what I need to produce all the morphs I am interested in working with. Maybe some Dwarfs other than the Stripe in 2005.
Finish goal 2:
Finish the caging and set up in a brand new Snake breeding facility we just had put up. Lots of money and time is going to be spent finishing this.
The new start project:
I will feel after all of this is done like it is time to go with more high end breeders and we are in talks with Mike right now on the Ball Python market. I would like to purchase:
1.0 Albino Ball Wilbanks stock
0.2 Het Albino Balls Wilbanks stock
1.1 Pastel Balls Wilbanks stock
1.0 Pied Ball Wilbanks stock
0.2 Het Pied Balls Wilbanks stock
That should be a good start there and eat up any money I plan on spending on Reptiles for this year. We deffinately have a game plan and have given alot of thought to this and hope everything works out.
